Welcome back to another #ShopMyStash post! I’ve put the Shaaanxo x BH Cosmetics collaboration palette to the test this past week so I could do a little review for you all. If you’d like to read previous #ShopMyStash posts, click here.
Who is Shaaanxo?
If you haven’t heard of Shaaanxo or Shannon Harris, go to YouTube right now and watch some of her amazing videos! Shannon is a beauty YouTuber from New Zealand who I have been following for many years now. She is one of my favourite YouTubers as she is consistent and incredibly hard working. Shannon delivers informative, entertaining, and original content for her beauty channel.
She teamed up with BH Cosmetics last year to create an eye and lip palette for an affordable price.
About the palette
The palette is simply known as the Shaaanxo palette and you can shop it here through the BH Cosmetics website. It includes nine eye shadows and nine lip colours. The palette retails for $14.50 USD (approximately $18 AUD) and is regularly on sale (I believe it was only $8.50 USD when I purchased it last year).
I admit that I really only bought the palette for the eye shadows. This review will primarily focus on them, but I will endeavour to review the lip colours as well.
~ The price is right! Such an affordable palette, especially because it is a two-in-one. BH Cosmetics offers really affordable products that I swear by.
~ Pigmentation/overall formula of the eye shadows. I cannot fault the formula of these eye shadows – they all perform really well. I always use an eye primer as I have hooded eyes and oily lids, so these shades lasted well throughout the day without creasing when used with a primer. There was no fall out that I experienced. These are by no means the smoothest or creamiest shadows when swatching, but I’m still really impressed with the quality overall.
~ Likewise, the formula of the lipsticks are creamy and pigmented. They all have a similar finish, which is nice and creamy/glossy (definitely not matte). They are easy to apply with a brush (or your finger for some light tinting) and last a decent amount of time for such a creamy formula. These lipsticks stain your lips slightly, which I like, because it means they wear off more evenly.
~ This palette is compact and good for travel. It includes a small mirror on both sides of the palette, which is a huge plus for the price point.
~ The shades are stunning, especially if you like shimmer shades. I sometimes use this palette just for the shimmer shades, because they are so beautiful and unique to my collection.
~ The lipstick shades are also very well-rounded – you have all the basics, plus you can mix colours together to get the perfect shade.
~ Lip palette is a little impractical as you cannot touch up easily. I prefer traditional lipstick bullets/liquid lipsticks rather than applying product with a lip brush.
~ Needs just one more neutral matte transition shade to be the perfect go-to palette for me. Sometimes I find myself having to use another palette in conjunction with this one to create a whole look.
Overall, I rate this palette an 8.5/10. I do not get much use out of the lipstick side of the palette, but it’s nice to know it is there and it adds value overall to the product. I must admit that after dedicating the past week to this palette, I definitely appreciate the lip colours and formula much more – they really are stunning. The eye shadows are beautiful and perform very well. This is an affordable quality palette that I recommend! I also like supporting YouTube personalities who I think are hard working and deserving, and Shannon has certainly earned my support!
