Welcome back to my blog! I’m keen as a jelly bean to talk about the products and things I was loving in the month of October! If you’d like to read my other monthly favourites posts, click here. October was a wonderful month for me, with the weather warming up, my holiday, and lots of time spent with friends and family. I hope you all had a good month too and are fired up and ready for November!
Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer
I know, I know, this is an oldie but a goodie. I only tried this primer out recently and the hype is REAL with this one. It’s the best pore-filling/smoothing primer I have used. This is definitely for use on targeted areas, and not all over your face. I use this on the centre of my face (forehead, nose, chin) where I get the oiliest and have the most pores visible. This makes my pores appear so much smaller, which I love. I use this under foundation and BB creams, and also use it alone when I’m not wearing any makeup. It’s a fantastic product, and a little goes a long way. The packaging is practical and the scent is lovely too.
The weather is warming up, meaning my pins are out for all the world to see. I don’t have a lot of success with tanning products, so I tend to stick to gradual tanning moisturisers to get the most natural and long-lasting look. I picked this product up because it claims to work faster than regular gradual tanners. This claim is spot on. I saw effects after only two applications, which impressed me greatly. This is a really nice moisturiser that doesn’t leave my skin feeling sticky at all. It doesn’t transfer to clothes, which is a huge plus. I am loving the glow this product gives my skin in just a couple of days – it’s perfect for beach trips, events, or just for people who don’t like fake tanning but want a bit of colour.
Lush Cosmetics Snow Fairy Body Conditioner
Okay, story time: A few years ago I was travelling around Europe and while I was in Scotland I decided to visit a Lush store to pick up some good bargains after Christmas. I picked up the Snow Fairy body wash and used that for the rest of my trip. Whenever I smell this sweet scent, I am immediately transported back to my European holiday, and that makes me so happy.
This product is an in-shower body conditioner, for use after body wash. You slather this on and then rinse it off and your skin immediately feels soft and moisturised. It’s perfect for people like me who dislike using regular moisturisers (it’s too cold in winter and too hot in summer!). Lush always has some kind of body conditioner in rotation, but the scent usually changes pretty regularly. Snow Fairy is super super sweet, like fairy floss – definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, but I enjoy it!
Lash Lift and Tint
Before my holiday I decided to get my lashes lifted and tinted professionally at a local salon (the Lovely Beauty Lounge for those in the Brisbane area!). As I have mentioned countless times before, my lashes are dead straight, and I have to use a lash curler daily just so I can apply my mascara. It’s a bit of a nightmare. I finally splurged though and got a lash lift and it has changed my life.
Basically, my lashes have been permed. It’s a chemical lifting that lasts for 6-12 weeks depending on your natural lash cycle. The Lovely Beauty Lounge do a complimentary lash tint as well to really make your lashes pop. It’s been about one month since my lashes were lifted and they still look amazing. I keep expecting them to drop but they look so pretty and it really makes my eyes look better and more open. I will continue to do this lash treatment in the future for sure!
As always, you should do thorough research before getting this treatment! It has to be done by a professional. As the eye area is so sensitive, and lash lifts involve chemicals, it’s so important to do your research and go to a trusted, qualified lash technician! I really recommend the Lovely Beauty Lounge for those in my area.
Netflix Stranger Things/Stranger Things 2
Lastly, a non-beauty favourite this last month was the TV show Stranger Things on Netflix. I watched the first season when it was first released, but I re-watched it with my boyfriend in October ready for the release of season two. If you haven’t already heard about or watched this show I definitely recommend it! It’s binge-worthy and perfect for marathoning on the weekends. I’m obsessed with the 80s synth soundtrack and amazing child actors! I finished Stranger Things 2 earlier this week and I’m more in love with it than ever before – I need more people to catch up with it so I can discuss it with them!
That wraps up my favourite things in October! What products or things were you loving last month? Let me know!
