Hey beauties! A few weeks ago I placed an order with Colourpop and it finally arrived this week! It’s been years since I ordered from Colourpop – when I last ordered they only had Lippie Stix and their Super Shock Shadows! Now they have so many amazing products, I knew I had to try them again. Here’s a run down of what I got and my first impressions and swatches. I haven’t used these products yet so I can’t comment on longevity, blend-ability, etc. Let me know if you’d be interested in a more in-depth review in future!
I noticed that Colourpop now offers value sets, which is so helpful for me – I get really overwhelmed looking at all the products, colours, and finishes that this brand creates (probably why it has taken me so long to order from them again). Since ordering a few weeks ago I’ve noticed they have added even more different sets and combinations!
I purchased the Casual Encounter set, which consisted of the All Nighter Super Shock Shadow set and the Out and About lip set.
From the website, the set contains:
All Nighter (Eyeshadows)-
Smash: neutral satin beige with a soft golden sheen
Vega: cool-toned taupe gold sprinkled with gold, pink and violet glitter
To-a-T: mid-tone warm brown in a matte finish
Mooning: blackened plum with a violet sheen
Out and About (Liquid Lipsticks)-
Viper: true dusty rose in a matte finish
Times Square: muted pink beige in a matte finish
Baracuda: warm deepened rose in a satin finish
This is my first time trying Colourpop’s Super Shock Shadows and I was completely blown away when I swatched them. They are incredible! I can definitely see myself purchasing more – the formula is so unique, the pigmentation is beautiful, and they seem to blend out really nicely. I am already obsessed. I love all of the shades as well.
My first impressions of the liquid lipsticks are not as good, simply because the colours are much darker on my skin tone than I realised (this has happened before with my past Lippie Stix order). I also own a Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Clueless (I bought it from a store that buys cosmetics from Colourpop, Kylie Cosmetics, etc and then re-sells them at a higher price… I know) and I didn’t love the formula of it that much, I found it extremely drying. I bought these because they were in the value set and I wanted to give them another try, plus one of them is an Ultra Satin formula, which I wanted to test out.
The pigmentation looks really good – they didn’t swatch streaky despite being darker shades. I like the colour of Viper the most and Times Square the least (those shades of nude lipsticks just don’t suit my cool undertones well, despite it being described as “pink beige” I find it swatched quite sandy and yellow-based). I will wear these more in the cooler months, so will test them out then. I’m keen to test the comfort of Baracuda, the Ultra Satin formula.
This value set was $33.00 US (so about $43 AU, not bad for four eyeshadows and three liquid lipsticks).
I wanted to get free international shipping (for orders over $50 US) so I also added two Creme Gel Liners and a Super Shock Cheek highlighter.
I really wanted to try the Creme Gel Liners because I have heard great things about them and the colour range is to die for. I was instantly drawn to Get Paid, which is described as a “metallic rose gold” on the Colourpop website. I find it to be more gold than rose gold, but it is still a beautiful colour – I can’t wait to put this in my waterline and lower lash line! I also purchased Call Me which is described as a “deep plummy brown” because I thought it would complement my hazel eyes nicely. The colour is true to its description on the website. These liners are incredibly creamy and pigmented – but the tip of Call Me broke off as I was swatching lightly on my arm, so that was a bit disappointing. I’ll still be able to use it, I’ll just have to be very careful with it. These liners are $5 US each.
The Super Shock Cheek highlighter in Hippo has the same consistency as the Super Shock Shadows – I love it. I want more! I chose this shade, described as a “soft cool-toned icy lavender”, because I want to get more coloured highlighters after buying Elf’s Pink Diamonds baked highlighter. It is quite a shimmery highlighter, but I don’t mind it. Even though it arrived cracked, it is still usable (I just won’t travel with it). Because of it’s squishy consistency it can sort of be blended back together in the pan. This highlighter is $8 US (about $10.50 AU) so I’m not too fussed that it arrived a little cracked.
The packaging of these products is plastic but sturdy – I really like it. The liquid lipsticks, with their silver lids, are beautiful. All in all, the affordability of this brand, plus their extensive range of products, ticks all my boxes. Colourpop is cruelty free as well.
You can shop any of the products mentioned here, plus many many more, right here.
I hope you enjoyed today’s long post! Thanks for getting this far!
Until next time,
