It was my birthday about a week ago and like any true makeup addict I visited Sephora to treat myself. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, Sephora has only recently come to Queensland, Australia (at the Gold Coast, and more recently at Chermside on the north side of Brisbane). I ventured out to the Chermside store so I could see things in person (I’m very wary while shopping online, so prefer to go to the store if possible). I mentioned in my High End Wish List post that I was keen to visit a Sephora so I am stoked that I got to go!
As a side note, for those locals wondering what the store is like, my experience was great! I had really low expectations due to some reviews I had read and heard: the music was too loud, nothing was restocked, and there were no staff members around to help (and those that were around were unfriendly). I visited on a Saturday and it was pretty busy (but no busier than a Mecca or Priceline store to be honest). It wasn’t too loud and there were heaps of really lovely staff members about. They actually had heaps of stock and only a couple of things I was looking at getting were sold out. So overall, my experience was good!
Now, onto the haul!
Firstly, I knew I had to pick something up from Tarte. I had been eyeing off the Tarteist Treats Eye & Lip Set online for a little while and honestly wasn’t expecting it to be in stock in store, but it was! It’s such good value for money I couldn’t pass it up – you get the Tarteist Pro To Go Amazonian Clay Eye Shadow Palette (which smells amazing, is creamy and pigmented, and just the perfect little palette for travel), a mini Tarteist Lash Paint mascara (which I thought I would hate based on the wand, but I actually love it and have been using it all week!), and a mini Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint in the shade WCW (a deep berry shade) for $37.00 AUD (to put that in perspective, the eye shadow palette alone costs $33.00 AUD, so the saving is awesome in the bundle).
Next up from Tarte I purchased the Ready, Set, Radiant skin mist, which is super hydrating and makes my skin look flawless. It makes my makeup stay put for a long amount of time and it smells like cucumber. I love this setting spray! It is currently sold out online in Australia, but they had plenty of stock in store.
My big splurge was on the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (Pressed) in Prismatic Amethyst. This baby was expensive, but it is oh so beautiful. I couldn’t resist. Firstly, it’s limited edition. Secondly, the packaging is bomb. Thirdly, it’s the coolest highlight shade I have ever seen and it’s totally unique to my collection. Fourthly, the powder is so creamy and pigmented and blends like a dream. So, in short, I was doomed from the start. Fly, money, fly! No regrets though, this is honestly a beautiful highlighter and I now see that the Becca hype is real.
Lastly, I picked up two Sephora Collection eye masks, because they were really affordable and masks solely for my under eye area intrigued me. I got the Rose and the Avocado masks as they appealed to me the most: nourishing, hydrating, and brightening. I haven’t tried these guys yet, but I’m sure if I love them you’ll know soon enough!
I had some extra birthday dosh left over after all that, so a few days later I hopped online and made a cheeky online order with Sephora. These items have yet to be delivered to me, so I couldn’t include photos of them, but wanted to mention them in this post. I got the Zoeva En Taupe eye shadow palette, which I swatched in store and it was beautiful. I have really been loving the cooler toned eye shadows lately with my new cool toned hair, and this palette was pretty affordable and ticked the shade boxes I was after.
I also really wanted to try something from Kat Von D, and after being dissuaded from trying her liquid lipsticks by a Sephora staff member (they claimed they were quite drying, which I don’t enjoy, so didn’t want to risk it) I decided to order the limited edition (yep, I’m a sucker) Studded Kiss lipstick in the shade Mother (which I again swatched in store and loved). This lipstick has silver packaging rather than the ordinary black, and I couldn’t go past it. I’ve been embracing bullet lipsticks again!
Last but not least I picked up another targeted sheet mask from the Sephora Collection (again, something I should have just picked up in store but didn’t and regretted immediately). I chose the Charcoal Nose Strip, which is now sold out online, so it must be popular (and hopefully good!). I’m all about unblocking the pores on my nose as it’s my main problem area, so I’m keen to try this guy out! At only $2 it could be an incredible skin care find.
So that’s my Sephora haul for my birthday! It was lots of fun shopping with my sisters and friends and I was really happy with everything I got! I had a great birthday as well – my boyfriend took me to the zoo and it was a really fun day. Thanks for all the birthday wishes on Instagram too!
Thanks for reading, lots of love,
